How I Use AI

AI writing doesn't sound like me, especially to me.
By the time I'd have tweaked AI output well-enough as to sound un-AI-like, I might as well have re-written whatever it was from scratch.

But I do use AI as a tool.

Perplexity is the AI model I currently turn to for my daily AI needs. I use Perplexity to sanity-check my writing with questions like, "Here's what I've written. Are there glaring mistakes or inconsistencies?" Those questions may evolve into some back-and-forth, research, or trial-and-error before I settle, but all revisions are my own - I don't copy-and-paste from the AI-generated conversation.

I also use ChatGPT, with prompts like, "Give me feedback on this article's appropriateness for the audience." (By the time you've read this ChatGPT will have already done so, too, probably a few times.)

I use a second AI engine because I don't want the same AI handling both editing and reviewing (and I already had a ChatGPT account). That's probably a meaningless distinction, but it makes me feel better. Sometimes I'll pit the two AIs against each to see what shakes out, but unless I'm quoting someone or something, what gets posted here came from my own fingers.
